Awaken Your Natural Leadership
"There is much we can learn from a friend who happens to be a horse." - Aleksandra Layland
equine guided coaching, workshops, & retreats
for individuals and groups
What if you could learn to lead—yourself and others—from presence instead of pressure?
Imagine standing in a wide, open field — the steady rhythm of your heartbeat syncing with the quiet breath of the horses around you. Calm. Alert. Present. You move, and they respond. Not because you push, but because your energy speaks before words do.
Before long, that same grounded confidence begins to ripple through the rest of your life — your conversations, your decisions, your relationships, your work. You find yourself living and leading with more ease and authenticity, guided by presence instead of pressure. You end your days feeling alive, with energy left for what (and who) matters most.
Awaken Your Natural Leadership helps you access that steadiness.
Through experiential coaching with horses, you’ll discover a new way — one rooted in clarity, connection, and trust.
You don't need another strategy. You need to remember yourself.
Whether you're leading a team, running a business, building something meaningful, or simply navigating your own complex life — you know what it feels like to hold it all together. To stay composed, keep showing up, and somehow make it look effortless.
But underneath that composure, there's often tension. The cost of holding it all together starts to feel like strain. Many of us have learned to lead with our minds while our bodies run on empty.
the catch? You're a mammal, not a thinking machine.
And like all mammals, you have ancient, reliable instincts — ways of sensing safety, reading energy, knowing when something's aligned or off. Ways of moving through the world that don't require thinking everything through first.
We've just been taught to override them.
To ignore the body's signals. To push through when everything in us says "pause." To perform confidence when we feel uncertain. To lead from the neck up while our nervous systems are running on fumes.
That disconnection is exhausting. It's why you can check every box and still feel misaligned. Why you can be "successful" and still sense something fundamental is missing.
The horses remember what we've forgotten.
Horses are prey animals. Their survival depends on reading energy, sensing intention, and responding to what's true — not what's performed or polished. They live in their bodies with a clarity most of us have lost.
They don't respond to effort. They respond to energy that's aligned.
In their presence, you can't think your way through. You can't perform connection. You have to actually be present — in your body, with your real energy, as yourself.
And that’s where the real learning happens.
What I've seen again and again — in team meetings and pastures alike — is that when people reconnect with their mammal wisdom, everything shifts. Decision-making becomes clearer. Presence becomes natural. Influence happens without force.
Not because they learned a new technique. Because they remembered how to trust the intelligence that lives in their bodies.
This work isn't about fixing yourself or adding more to your plate. It's about reclaiming the instincts you've been taught to ignore — the ones that actually know how to move through complexity, read situations accurately, and lead from groundedness instead of performance.
The Four Pillars of coaching with horses
This work unfolds through four key pillars. Together, they create a path from over-efforting and exhaustion to presence, clarity, and calm confidence — the kind of leadership that feels both steady and alive.
1. Awaken Your Natural Leadership
Reconnect to the innate wisdom that already lives in your body — the awareness that guides your energy, choices, and relationships. Through reflection with the horses, you'll begin to notice how your internal state shapes your external influence.
2. Align Your Energy and Influence
Learn to guide from clarity, not control. Horses respond to energy that's aligned — clear intent, honest emotion, coherent body language. You'll discover the difference between force and influence and experience how alignment inspires trust.
3. Lead with Clarity and Connection
Cultivate the kind of relational intelligence that lets you stay connected to yourself and others, even in moments of tension. You'll practice honest communication, clear boundaries, and deep listening that foster genuine connection.
4. Restore Your Natural Rhythm
Leadership — like nature — moves in seasons. In this pillar, you'll integrate what you've learned, balancing action with rest. You'll leave with a rhythm that sustains you — steady, clear, and full of life.

I'm a coach, horsewoman, Natural Leadership facilitator, and lifelong student of what it means to lead with heart.
Over the past 25 years, I've built and led my own brick and mortar business, trained in leadership development, and worked with hundreds of thoughtful, purpose-driven people — from staff members to mothers to organizational leaders — who want to make an impact without losing themselves in the process.
What I've learned — in business, in coaching, and in life — is that leadership isn't something you master once and for all. It's a living practice. It's how you meet the moment — with presence, integrity, and trust in yourself.
My approach is experiential, embodied, and rooted in compassion. You won't find corporate jargon or one-size-fits-all formulas here — just an honest space to rediscover your own way of living and leading.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Not at all. No riding involved. All work happens on the ground with full facilitation and safety in mind.
-
Closed-toe shoes are required. Dress for the weather — comfortable layers, and a hat instead of sunglasses so the horses can see your eyes.
-
At my private farm in Northwest Arkansas. For group experiences, off-site sessions are possible by arrangement.
-
Each session unfolds uniquely, guided by your goals and the horses' responses. You might observe, interact, or move through exercises that explore energy, boundaries, and communication. For teams, activities are designed around your specific objectives — whether that's trust-building, communication, adaptability, or something else.
-
Yes, as safe as it can possibly be. The horses I work with are experienced in this setting, and all sessions are facilitated with safety as a top priority.
-
That's completely okay — and it’s often where the deepest learning begins. You'll never be asked to do anything beyond your comfort level.
-
That’s cool. Healthy skepticism means people are thinking critically. What I've found is that even the most analytical, skeptical participants often have the most powerful breakthroughs — precisely because the horses bypass our usual defenses and get straight to what's real. The experience usually speaks for itself.
-
This isn't about games or manufactured bonding. It's about creating conditions where your team's actual dynamics become visible — how you communicate under pressure, who steps forward, who holds back, where trust exists and where it doesn't. The horses provide instant, honest feedback that reveals patterns you might not see clearly in the office. It's team development that goes deeper than surface-level exercises.
-
Sessions can be rescheduled up to 48 hours in advance. Cancellations made after that time are non-refundable, as the horses and arena are prepared specifically for your session. In the case of severe weather, we’ll reschedule to a new date.
A final Word
There comes a moment when the old ways of leading, living, and holding it all simply don't work anymore. When effort stops delivering clarity, and striving no longer feels like strength.
That moment isn't a failure — it's an invitation.
A call to remember the kind of leadership that arises naturally when you're connected to yourself, your truth, and the world around you.
The horses and I are here to walk beside you as you answer that call — to help you reconnect with your presence, your purpose, and your own quiet power.
When you're ready, step into the arena.
The rest will meet you there.
